Indian Partition

(Crisis GA)

The partition of India and Pakistan into two sovereign nations after centuries of British rule was one of the most violent chapters in the history of decolonization. The violence following the partition resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. Our committee starts in the spring of 1947, with the appointment of Lord Louis Mountbatten as the last Viceroy of India, tasked with overseeing decolonization. This committee will aim to draft a partition resolution that passes both committees. The committee is larger than most crisis-style committees, and we aim to have more General Assembly style debate. This committee will be challenging, and we recommend that delegates have at least a year of MUN experience. We look forward to an exciting day of debate!
