Hurricane Katrina
It is early September, 2005. Hurricane Katrina, one of the deadliest and most destructive hurricanes in history, has laid waste to the city of New Orleans. Over a thousand people are dead, with many more losing their house and all of their possessions in the storm. City officials, state legislators, and recently-appointed task force leaders are scrambling to construct a plan to repair their storm-torn city. The goals of this committee are as follows:
- To rebuild the city of New Orleans on an economic, environmental, and social level.
- To improve safety and natural disaster preparedness protocols in order to guard against future unpreparedness.
- To begin a national dialogue on emergency preparedness.
